V2Maps Ltd ("V2Maps", "we", "us", or "our") is a company registered in the United Kingdom. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal data when you use the V2Maps mobile application (the "App"). It is written to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at V2Maps@outlook.com.
1. Who we are
TrackMyHacks Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through the App.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of data:
Account information. When you register, we collect your email address, password (stored securely and never visible to us in plain text, as authentication is handled by our service provider, ***), full name, and chosen username.
Profile information. If you choose to add one, we store a profile picture.
Horse profiles / Stables. If you use the App as a Rider, we store details you provide about your horses, including name, colour, and an optional photo.
Location data. The App collects your precise GPS location while you have an active "hack" (a ride) in progress. This includes:
Foreground location, used to display your live position on the map and record your route.
Background location, used so that tracking continues if you lock your phone or switch to another app during an active hack. We only collect background location while a hack is active - we do not track your location at any other time.
Your location during an active hack is shared in real time with other V2Maps users who have the Driver role, so that they can be alerted if they come within approximately 250 metres of you. This is a core safety feature of the App.
Hack history. We store the route, start/end times, and any name or description you give to hacks you have completed, so you can view and replay them later.
Driver acknowledgements. When a Driver acknowledges a proximity alert for a specific Rider, we record that acknowledgement so it can be shown to the correct Rider.
Usage and device information. Like most apps, certain limited technical information (such as error logs) may be generated as part of normal operation of the App and its underlying services, for troubleshooting purposes.
We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health information) beyond what you voluntarily choose to enter (e.g. a horse's name).
3. How we use your data
We use your data to:
Create and manage your account
Provide the core hack-tracking and proximity-alert functionality
Show your saved horses and hack history back to you
Maintain the security and integrity of the App
Communicate with you about your account where necessary
Comply with our legal obligations
4. Our lawful basis for processing
We process your data primarily because it is necessary to provide the App's core functionality under our contract with you (i.e. you cannot use a hack-tracking and alert app without sharing your location during a hack). Where we ask for optional information (such as a profile picture), we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by removing that information in the App.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share data with the following categories of recipients, only as needed to operate the App:
Other V2Maps users (Drivers) - while you have an active hack as a Rider, your live location, rider name, and horse name/icon are visible to Drivers within range, for safety purposes only.
Mailsender ? ***
***
We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect our legal rights, or to protect the safety of our users.
6. International data transfers
Some of our service providers (such as Google) may process or store data outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on legal safeguards such as the UK's International Data Transfer Addendum or adequacy decisions to ensure your data remains protected to UK standards.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Hack history is retained until you delete it or delete your account.
If you delete your account: your login credentials, profile, horse profiles, and hack history are all permanently deleted at the same time and cannot be recovered. We do not retain a copy of this data after deletion, except where we are legally required to keep certain records (for example, financial records relating to a paid subscription, which we keep only as long as the law requires).
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
Access the personal data we hold about you
Rectify inaccurate data
Erase your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to section 7 above
Restrict or object to our processing of your data in certain circumstances
Data portability - receive your data in a portable format
Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
You can exercise most of these rights directly within the App (editing your profile, deleting horses, or deleting your account). For anything else, contact us at V2Maps@outlook.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we have not handled your data properly.
9. Children's privacy
V2Maps is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including relying on Google Firebase's security infrastructure for authentication and data storage. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and where changes are significant, we will notify you within the App.
